Milsetentayseis Tinto 2018

Milsetentayseis Tinto 2018

Milsetentayseis Tino is the wine from a high altitude (1076 meters as printed on the cap) vineyard aged nearly 100 years in Ribera del Duero. Poor soil but rich in minerals together with the high altitude give the wine both bold and fresh characters and intense fruit both in aroma and the month.

Description

Milsetentayseis Tino is a wine from a high altitude (1076 meters as printed on the cap) vineyard aged nearly 100 years in Ribera del Duero. Poor soil but rich in minerals and high altitude give the wine both bold and fresh characters and intense fruit both in aroma and the month, black fruit, herbal, and flint. Very interesting and rare wine in Ribera del Duero!

Milsetentayseis (1,076, the altitude of their highest vineyard) is a new project in Fuentenebro (Burgos) in Ribera del Duero from the Ruiz Aragoneses family of Pago de Carraovejas. They started in 2018 with 12 hectares of young vines (12 to 30 years old) and 10 hectares of old vines (70 to 110 years of age) in 48 small plots, all in the village of Fuentenebro and now certified organic. They started very small and are slowly growing to 27,000 bottles in 2019. There will be a couple more wines, including a red with different varieties they have found planted in the old vineyards.
