Description

VINEYARDS

NAHIKUN means big desired in Euskera (Basque language). Recovering these vineyards was my stronger desired, and a huge effort.

It comes from five small parcels, all of them are over 80 years old, in the area of Villabuena de Álava (500 meters altitude). Organic micro vineyards. Very low yield, less than 500 g per plant.

BLEND

Field blend of Viura, Malvasía, Calagraño y Rojal.

WINEMAKING AND AGING

Fermented spontaneously in the barrel and aged for 8 months. 1300 bottles produced.

TASTING NOTE

Elegant and complex nose, with delicate white flower aromas. Honeyed and spicy, with notes of wildflowers, cinnamon, and chalky freshness, very well balanced with the soft and grassy mouth. It keeps the complexity of these minority varieties.  RP92 (2017)

Sandra Bravo started Sierra de Toloño in 2012 making wine from vineyards in the area of Rivas de Tereso, a small hamlet of the foothills of the Toloño mountain range. An altitude of more than 600 meters, at the limit vine-growing, brings a great freshness. She can recover some old vineyard and produce a small quantity but high-quality wine. Tim Atkin MW name her a "Young Winemaker of 2019" to recognize her work.
