Description

VINEYARDS

Single vineyard of Tempranillo from a high, rocky, limestone-based site (700 meters altitude).

Due to the higher lastra (grey limestone rock), closer to the roots, and the quality of the tempranillo, extremely tasty, the wine is especially aromatic and mineral.

BLEND

100% Tempranillo

WINEMAKING AND AGING

It ferments spontaneously in amphorae at a very low temperature. This is a slow process that allows a smooth and continuous extraction. Then, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for a year to complete the roundness of the tannins.  Unfined and unfiltered. 1.120 bottles produced

TASTING NOTE

It’s a serious, sappy red with violet and wild thyme aromas, redcu¬rrant and pomegranate fruit and palate-cleansing acidity. Strong mineral accent and floral touch typical of the Mediterranean herbs that surrounded the vineyard.  RP93 (2016)

Sandra Bravo started Sierra de Toloño in 2012 making wine from vineyards in the area of Rivas de Tereso, a small hamlet of the foothills of the Toloño mountain range. An altitude of more than 600 meters, at the limit vine-growing, brings a great freshness. She can recover some old vineyard and produce a small quantity but high-quality wine. Tim Atkin MW name her a "Young Winemaker of 2019" to recognize her work.
