Description

A second generation winemaker from Priorat René Barbier IV (same name as the father and now running the Clos Mogador), married Sara Perez, the daughter of Josep Lluis Perez and now running the Mas Martinet. They want to create something to express their own thought about wine. After searching around, they found the potential of Grenache and Carignan in Montsant.  They also consider every step of winemaking in the winery to see how to minimize the impact on the environment. That’s why you find wax capsule or even no capsule on the bottle.


Venus 2016 is a vintage blend with 50% Carinena, 10% Syrah, 40% Garnacha.  A Mediterranean-style wine means to create for pairing with food.


As Luis Gutiérrez from Wine Advocate mentioned: "The wines from Venus la Universal keep getting better and better, with great value in the Dido range (and a rosé that is more white than the white...) and a new amazing Garnacha from the village of La Figuera. And a truly awesome white Cartoixá from 2016.."
